OPINIONS PLEASE

I did not get to take pictures of my friend's boys today - one was sick.  But I had set up the room, so decided to take some test shots of my boys (I really need some new models :-)).   I love the dramatic effect the black sheet has.  I would like some honest opinions please!

Thanks!

  2. Jodie, no, not much photoshop-just highlighted their faces and "lightened" or "darkened" a little depending on what it needed, plus I sharpened it.

  3. They look great! I love those models too. They look like they were cooperating!

I would like to see you try with a light background and then compare it to the black.☺

  5. Rhonda I told you, you cant use an on camera flash for indoor studio lighting. The Shadows are too harsh. The bottom isnt too bad. You can use a flash but you need at least 2 of them and they need to be diffused. I'm not trying to be mean. Really. Honesty will make you better.

Black backgrounds are hard to whitebalance until you know you lighting temp. Tip the same lights will give you same temp no matter what background you use. So if you try it on white which will be easy to white balance use the same setting...

If you dont want to get strobes at least diffuse your flash in some way.

  6. Okay, Adam, I know I need some other lights for indoor, but I'm not really sure what to buy - I've been reading books, but they give the reasons why some are better than others, and I'm not sure which ones will work best for what I'm doing. I guess I just don't know which ones to get first that will be the most versatile. I was thinking one of the soft boxes that can be used outside too?????? Thanks, I wanted your honest opinion

  7. the only time you would use a softbox outside is at night or really low light... which is really cool looking but a totally different realm of photography.

I would look for the best you can afford. Get good lights first and use a synce cable. Dont opt for radio control until you can afford good ones. The cheap radio snycs are horrible.
