NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

Happy 2010.  That seems really weird to type that!  Wow- I just realized that it will be 25 years since I've been out of high school.  I feel officially old.

This is the time of year when everyone resolves to do something new and better in the new year.  It is a great time to start.  They say it takes 21 days for something to become a habit.  Not sure I believe that. . .  but, I really need to make some changes.

I've been on Weight Watchers (On line) for a month now, and I've managed to gain 2 pounds.  Now, realizing it was the holiday and so many pitfalls, I'm going to cut myself some slack and start fresh tomorrow.  I guess it could have been worse - it could have been 5 pounds, or 10 pounds - it is a bad time of year!  None the less, I am a bit discouraged because I continually seem to find a reason to eat that "extra" stuff.  It is so hard to stay on plan for me, and I'm not sure why.  If anyone has any advice to offer in that area, please do!

Another resolution I am making is that I will each and every week make a menu up, planning around the store sale flyers and what I have in my pantry.  Then I will make up a complete list of what I need and go to the store ONE TIME and only buy what's ON THE LIST.  I spend way too much on groceries and still feel like I've got nothing to eat around here, or worse yet, it is 4 p.m. and I still have no idea what to fix for dinner.  Sound familiar?????

I also resolve to spend more time one-on-one with my little guys.  When Ty and Tanner were little, I had a set plan each day - Bible lessons, games, baking cookies together, playing outside, going to the pool, etc.  I have many regrets in my life, but those hours spent with my children are no where near regrettable.  For some reason, I find it hard to spend that much time with my new little ones, and the reason I think that is . . . . Facebook and blogs!   Sorry, but it has to be true - we did not even have a computer when Ty and Tanner were these ages.  I find myself drifting to my computer each time I'm in the living room.  I tell myself it is to connect with adults and the outside world, and that may be true, but I have two little guys growing up and someday I will regret the time I spent on line!

The last major resolution I have is to send more cards to people and do more volunteer work in the name of Christianity.  I am blessed beyond belief and there are so many people in my community who need help - even if it is a phone call, card, or a meal.

Well, there you have a few of my resolutions.  If you'd like to share yours, please do -I'd love to hear from you.  Some people tell me they read my blog, but they don't comment, so I never know how many people read this.

Here are a couple of my favorite moments so far this year.  It's been a pretty exciting couple of days!

  4. Oh my-those are really good ones! But I'm thinking you probably do all those pretty darn good. But I guess it's always good to try to do better.

You already know the couple things I'm going to try to do better this year.

I honestly wish I had the computer when Hoper was little-I found having a little one quite isolating-and I wasn't isolated!

The boys are so darn cute!
